When i first met Pat, i joined her team then based in kirkton road. I was lucky enough to sit opposite her and she taught me so much about being a social worker. I was immediately impressed by her commitment to children and families, her knowledge, her politics and her commitment to women's rights. Pat and I became friends and i discovered this wonderful woman was not only wise and tolerant in social work but also about helping me through the may awful decisions i made in my life. She was always there - in person or on the phone and sometimes email. Never judging, never lecturing although on more than one occasion sighing loudly. As is often the case in life, it seems sometimes we only really appreciate what we had when its not there anymore. It was a genuine pleasure to know Pat and my life would have been a lot less full for not having met her.
